4 Ways to Celebrate the 4th of July in Abilene, Kansas

American-Flag-Abilene,KSIndependence Day is right around the corner, and this list of four ways to celebrate the 4th of July will make you want to celebrate the holiday weekend in Abilene, Kansas!

1. Enjoy Live Music at Old Abilene Town

Old-Abilene-Town-July-2-Abilene,KSKick-off the holiday weekend with a chuckwagon dinner, country music singer/songwriter Bryan Knowles concert, and an old west movie! The fun starts Friday, July 2  at 6:30 pm at the Bull's Head Pavilion at Old Abilene Town. Dinner includes smoked brisket, baked beans, cornbread, potatoes salad, and peach cobbler. Admission is $20 and the concert starts at 7 pm. Stay to watch the old western Abilene Town after the concert! 


Bonus: See the Old Abilene Town Gunfighters perform on Saturday at 11:30 am, 1:10 pm, and 3:30 pm, and on Sunday at 1:10 pm and 3:30 pm. The group will also perform on Monday at 11:30 am, 1:10 pm, and 3:30 pm.

2. Visit the Eisenhower Museum

3. Ride the Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad's Steam Engine 

Abilene-And-Smoky-Valley-Railroad-Abilene,KSRide the rails with the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad! Enjoy a narrated tour aboard the 1919 Baldwin 4-6-2 Steam Engine. 

The Steam Engine Runs Saturday, July 3 at 10 am and 2 pm; Sunday, July 4 at 2 pm; and Monday, July 5 at 10 am and 2 pm.
