3 Spooky Events You Won't Want to Miss!

Halloween is on Sunday, October 31, and Abilene attractions, businesses, and residents are preparing to welcome visitors and residents for spooky celebrations!

1. The Haunted Cowtown

Old-Abilene-Town-The-Haunted-Cowtown-Abilene,KSThe ghosts of Old Abilene Town have returned. Take a walk, if you dare, through your worst nightmare, the cursed schoolhouse, the possessed cabin, the haunted cemetery, the spooky saloon, and much more.

Visit from 7 pm to 10 pm on October 22 & 23, and October 29 & 30. Admission is $5.

*May be inappropriate for younger audiences.

2. Tombstone Talks

Tombstone-Talks-Abilene,KSAbilene's famous former relatives are brought back from the dead during the Dickinson County Historical Society's Tombstone Talks. Walk tombstone to tombstone through the Abilene cemetery to meet them and hear their stories. The cost is $5 and limited to 30 people per group. Groups will meet at the Abilene Middle School on Saturday, October 30, and depart at 6 pm, 6:30 pm, 7 pm, and 7:30 pm. Contact the Dickinson County Historical Society at (785) 263-2681 to reserve your ticket! 

3. Halloween at the Lebold Mansion

abilenes_historic_lebold_mansion.jpg​To some, the Lebold Mansion is always spooky, but the Lebold Mansion is amplifying its spookiness for Halloween! Visit from 6-10 pm on Sunday, October 31, when it opens its doors to visitors. Gomez Addams and his creepy, cooky family will greet visitors as they enter this historic home. The lawn and first floor will be decorated, and make sure to see the official ambassador, The Headless Horseman. No charge to visit, though donations are accepted.

  • Halloween Spooktacular

Join Abilene Parks & Recreation on Friday, October 29 at 5:30 pm at Old Abilene for hayrack rides, stories about the haunting of the Old Abilene Town Cemetery, games, and popcorn, hot chocolate, and a Halloween movie. 

Dress in costume and compete for prizes and don't forget your flashlight for the Great Pumpkin Hunt!

  • Trick-or-Treating

Children will enjoy trick-or-treating throughout Abilene on Sunday, October 31. 

  • Trunk or Treat

Visit Little Ike Park on October 31, 2021, from 5-8 pm for Trunk or Treat sponsored by the American Legion Post 39 Legion Riders. 

  • Fall Festival

Join in the fun at Emmanuel Church, 1300 N. Vine, for a fall festival on Saturday, October 16 from 11 am - 2 pm. Enjoy free food, games, bounce houses, face painting, hayrack and horse rides, and more!
