4 Exciting Investments in Abilene to Watch
It's a great day in Abilene, and we're looking forward to an exciting year of construction!
Here are four exciting projects to watch in 2022:
1. JRI Hospitality Renovates The Farmhouse
The Farmhouse has been an Abilene, Kansas landmark for over 75 years for its ability to bring people together over good food and personable service. Since its opening in 1939, the building has served its fair share of guests, experienced countless Midwest winters and summers, and has changed ownership several times. In December 2021, JRI Hospitality announced that the restaurant will be undergoing extensive renovations and upgrades to bring you an even better dining experience.
2. Holiday Inn Express Expands
After years of planning, Abilene's Holiday Inn Express is expanding and building a new hotel west of the Brookville Hotel.
The $9 million expansion will be four stories tall with 65 rooms. The former Holiday Inn Express (pictured above) will be rebranded as another chain maintaining its local ownership.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
3. Legacy Kansas - Munson's Prime at the Brookville Hotel to Open
The former Brookville Hotel building was purchased by Chuck and Deanna Munson, Munson's Prime and Munson Angus Farms, and will reopen this summer as Legacy Kansas. The restaurant will feature family-style fried chicken dinners and Munson's high-quality steak and burgers.
4. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Coming Soon
In February, Abilene's 24/7 Travel Store was awarded a $271,815 grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation to install electric vehicle charging stations.
West's Plaza Country Mart will also be installing electric vehicle charging stations.
These two new additions to Abilene will serve travelers with all types of vehicles.
