The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines "Americana" as "materials concerning or characteristic of America, its civilization, or its culture. Broadly: things typical of America." They could just as easily have said "See Abilene, Kansas." - Traveling With Purpose

Be sure not to miss the captivating new exhibits housed in the Museum Special Gallery, offering an enthralling glimpse into the heart and soul of America's history. From interactive displays to fascinating artifacts, this experience will transport you to a bygone era brimming with national pride and resilience.

By the Numbers:

Paint by number kits became increasingly popular in the 1950s. They were so popular that Eisenhower’s scheduling secretary handed out kits to many of the Oval Office visitors with instructions to complete and return their kit. This pet project of Thomas Edwin Stephens resulted in a humorous and treasured gift to President Eisenhower. Aware of Ike's fondness for painting, this 'curated exhibit' was proudly displayed around the White House West Wing. Today, this collection forms the core of the Eisenhower Presidential Library’s exhibit By the Numbers. Come visit and take a nostalgic look at these friendly, thoughtful gifts to the “painter president.”

Global Gifts:

Political leaders traditionally exchange gifts when visiting foreign countries. These gifts often have cultural significance and range widely in their level of extravagance or simplicity. Eisenhower traveled extensively during his administration and met with world leaders that he and Mamie considered friends. Ike and Mamie received Head of State gifts from around the globe. The Global Gifts exhibit showcases a wide range of artifacts that are part of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum collection.

And 19 & '52: Women Unite for Ike in the Library building (2nd floor gallery):

The 19 & '52: Women Unite for Ike exhibit connects President Eisenhower to the 19th Amendment. Women secured the right to vote throughout the United States in 1920 when the 19th Amendment was ratified. This exhibit explores the connection between the woman's suffrage movement and women’s contribution to the 1952 Presidential campaign. Learn about the instrumental women who influenced Dwight Eisenhower. Discover how women’s roles expanded during his Presidency. Find your piece of the puzzle that is American democracy.

The Muesueum exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on July 4.
