Gravel Abilene

on August 22, 2023

Abilene is not only home to world-class museums but also pairs its museums and history with one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities: gravel cycling.

Check out these two unique routes that celebrate Abilene's history and landscapes:

1. One Greyt Ride

Greyhound-Hall-of-Fame-Museum, Abilene, KS

Named Best Small Town to Visit by TravelAwaits, Abilene is also known as the Greyhound (dog) Capital of the World. Stretch your legs on this gravel-beginner-friendly route to see three Greyt Greyhound Attractions. This fast and relatively flat route is perfect for beginners or those seeking to set record times like the world's fastest canine. This route starts and stops at the Greyhound Hall of Fame Museum, listed in Atlas Obscura's list of "The Ultimate List of Wonderfully Specific Museums." The museum offers free admission and resident Greyhound dog greeters who love it when visitors stop to say hi!
