Go on a Real-Life Treasure Hunt in Abilene, Kansas! A Guide to Geocaching Fun
Looking for a fun, family-friendly adventure that combines exploration, technology, and the thrill of discovery? Try geocaching — a high-tech treasure hunt that’s taking the world by storm and is right here in Abilene, Kansas!
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity where participants use a smartphone or GPS device to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” at specific locations marked by coordinates all around the world. Think of it as a global game of hide-and-seek — and the best part? You don’t need to be an expert outdoorsperson to enjoy it!
Each cache contains a logbook to sign and sometimes fun trinkets to trade. The rule is simple: if you take something, leave something of equal or greater value. It’s a great way to explore new places, get some fresh air, and add a little extra excitement to your travels.
