On Saturday, August 15, the longhorns return to Old Abilene Town for Chisholm Trail Days: Longhorns & Legends, bringing one of Abilene’s most unforgettable chapters of history back to life.

This isn’t just an Old West backdrop.

Abilene became the first great cattle town of the American West when Texas cattle arrived by the thousands along the Chisholm Trail. Cowboys drove their herds north to Abilene, where cattle could be loaded onto trains and shipped east.

When you watch longhorns make their way through Old Abilene Town, you’re seeing a scene inspired by the very cattle drives that helped put Abilene on the map.
