Help Us Transform Downtown Abilene
We have an exciting opportunity to make a BIG impact in downtown Abilene, and we need your help!
The Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation, City of Abilene, downtown property owners, businesses and community partners are working together on a major downtown revitalization project through the State of Kansas BLOCK Grant program.
If awarded, the project will bring improvements to NW 3rd Street, Buckeye Avenue and Little Ike Park North, including building facades, windows, paint and tuckpointing, sidewalks, streetscape improvements and more!
And because this is truly a community project, we are looking for volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves and help!
Volunteer projects could include:
- Painting
- Window washing
- Cleanup
- Removing debris
- Preparing areas for improvements
- Other general volunteer work associated with the project
Right now, we are asking volunteers to make a pledge of the number of hours they would be willing to contribute if Abilene is awarded the BLOCK Grant. Completing the pledge does not mean work begins immediately. It helps us demonstrate the community support and volunteer resources available to make this ambitious project happen.
Whether you can give four hours, eight hours, a full weekend or more, every commitment helps.
This project has the potential to make a transformational difference in downtown Abilene, and one of the best parts is that our community has an opportunity to be directly involved in making it happen.
